McVideo!

by World of Simulation on May 20, 2008

This is another one that’s been around for a while (it’s copyright 2006) but has previously escaped my attention. The McDonald’s Video Game is a terrific parody of the well known fast food chain.

To succeed in the game, you need to learn the “complex process” involved in getting those burgers into the consumers stomach’s.

I’m amazed the McDonald’s lawyers haven’t been at work trying to get the URL!

This is a terrific little time waster and very well made.

Wii eating simulator!

by World of Simulation on May 5, 2008

I originally thought this must be some kind of April Fool’s joke, but it seems to be legitimate!

Mastiff Games are to release an eating simulator for the Nintendo Wii under the title “Major League Eating – The Game”!

major league eating - the game

Developed under exclusive license from from Major League Eating and the International Federation of Competitive Eating, Major League Eating: The Game features the world’s greatest gurgitory athletes competing across twelve different food types.

Built much like a fighting game, MLE: The Game requires players to show brilliant on-screen eating; a mastery of offensive and defensive weapons including burps, belches, and mustard gas; and of course the technical mastery necessary to avoid emptying one’s stomach in a vividly colored reversal of fortune.

And yes, I also thought there could no such thing as the “Major League Eating and the International Federation of Competitive Eating”, but see this web site!

Facial expression simulator

by World of Simulation on May 5, 2008

I recently found this pretty impressive Java based facial expression simulator:

It’s very realistic and surprisingly addictive to play around with. I think it’s been around for quite some time, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it.

Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom announced

by World of Simulation on April 21, 2008

Paradox Interactive has announced Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom – a beautiful looking new sim due for release in 2009:

Majesty 2 - The Fantasy Kingdom

Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim will focus on reinventing many aspects of the original game, updating the franchise for the 21st Century. A key element that will permeate the game is the charm and humor of the original Majesty.

“This is by far the biggest release from Paradox to date and it is sure to become one of the most anticipated titles of 2009″, said Fredrik Wester, Executive Vice President for Paradox Interactive. “Our aim is to release a fantastic game that not only encourages existing fans to renew their passion for the series, but also to reach out to the broader gaming community that has grown so much since the original was released”, he continued.

“It’s the height of any developers dream to work with such a cherished Triple A franchise with so many fans worldwide and such a unique position in the gaming industry”, said Alexey Kozyrev, CEO 1C:Ino-Co. “As a team we have reached the level of skills and acknowledgement in the international arena to be worthy of such a task.”

Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kindom Sim is scheduled for release during Q1 2009 for the PC platform. Confirmation of other platforms will be announced at a later stage. Download the first assets here.

SimCity bundle on the way

by World of Simulation on April 17, 2008

Good news for SimCity fans. Electronic Arts have announced they are to release SimCity Box, containing no less than 5 SimCity titles at a special low price.

The bundle will include:

  • SimCity Societies
  • SimCity Societies: Destinations
  • SimCity 4
  • SimCity 4: Rush Hour
  • The Sims Carnival SnapCity

It’s a pretty good bargain, especially considering Societies and Destinations are fairly new. I know Societies has been getting a pretty bad press from players, but I must admit, I’m having a great time with it.
